We will join in with the members of Tifereth Israel in Greenport for this special candle lighting program of remembrance and hope and to honor the memory of six million Jews who perished in the Holocaust.

The yellow memorial candles, which symbolize yellow stars Jews were forced to wear during the Holocaust, are offered as a gift to all our members. They can be picked up at our Shabbat services or delivered to you by a member of our Congregation.

Included with the candles will be a brief history of the Yellow Candle Project, and the name of a child who died in the Holocaust between 1938 and 1945.  More than 1.6 million children under the age of 16 died during the Holocaust.  Please remember this child in your prayers.

We hope you will acknowledge your gift candle and support the Yellow Candle Project with a charitable donation.  We suggest an amount or multiple of $18, the number that represents life — Chai.  Donations can be made to the North Fork Reform Synagogue on the NFRS website or by check in the envelop included with your candle.  This year, your donations will be used to support a trip by Greenport High School students to the Museum of Jewish Heritage in Manhattan.

Let us remember the past while we celebrate life – life that assures the future of Judaism here in our neighborhoods and the world over. We welcome and appreciate your support of our efforts in the Shoah commemoration.

Zoom instructions to be sent closer to the date via email.  We look forward to participating with you in this night of remembrance.
