Special Services
We have various special services during the year in which many of our members play leading roles. Please check our calendar to find the specific dates for each special service.
September – Sukkot
Giving thanks for the fall harvest and commemorating the forty years of Jewish wandering in the desert. We build our own Sukkah and gather there during a special service.
September – Simchat Torah
Celebrating the completion of the annual reading of the Torah. As a part of the celebration we roll out the entire Torah in the aisles of the synagogue.
November – Kristallnacht
Commemorating the first massive pogrom of Jews in Germany in 1938. Considered by many scholars to be the beginning of the Holocaust. Congregants read eye-witness testimonies.
January – Tu B’Shvat
Holiday that marks the “new year of the trees” is celebrated in our synagogue by a community meal led by our student Rabbi.
February – Shabbat Shira
The Sabbath of Song, a service with music to celebrate Moses and Miriam leading the Israelites across the Red Sea and out of Egypt.
March – Purim Shpiel
Fun dramatization of the Book of Esther performed by the members of congregation.
March – Women’s History Month
Observance of Women’s History Month that celebrates achievements of women and marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality.
