Community Outreach

As a part of our mission, we support the local community through outreach programs with special emphasis on cultural and social justice programs:

Cultural Events

  • Concerts with llana Davidson, our classically trained cantorial soloist, whose heritage comes from a deep Jewish musical tradition, delighted us with a concert of classical and popular music.  Watch her latest concert HERE .
  • Blooming Artists, an annual concert featuring wonderful and talented young artists who are students at East End Arts.
  • Poetry for Peace, an annual non-denominational poetry competition for school children who are encouraged to express their feelings by writing poetry.
  • Seven.  Our member, Gail Kriegel, co-authored and directed a documentary play celebrating seven remarkable women changing the world.  The proceeds were donated to local charities, CAST and NFSA.
  • 4 women, 4 stories.   An evening of songs as four accomplished cabaret singers, including our member, Peggy Schwartz, performed a songbook by mostly Jewish composers and lyricists.
  • Edith Stein, a radio play, by our member Jerry Levin, about Edith Stein who was an accomplished Jewish philosopher in pre-war Germany who became a Carmelite nun who perished in Auschwitz.

Social Justice Series

  • Joel Klein, our member and past President of the Professional Archeologists of New York City, spoke about WWII Japanese Internment Camps.  Check out the video of the presentation HERE .   Previously, he shared how new archeological digs conducted at the Nazi death camps played a major role in refuting Holocaust deniers.
  • Sonia Spar, community leader and a member of the Southold Anti-Bias Task Force, talked about how our broken immigration policies effect the North Fork Dreamers.
  • Marisa Fox, a New York based journalist and filmmaker, talked about uncovering her mother’s hidden Holocaust past.

All are Invited

We remain committed to delivering thoughtful, meaningful and relevant programs for the North Fork Community.  We welcome everyone, Jewish or not, members or not, to attend these events.
