Dear Members of the North Fork Reform Synagogue,
As you probably know, the North Fork Foodie Tour is the synagogue’s primary fundraiser. It accounts for a substantial portion of our yearly budget and makes it possible for us to keep our dues low and affordable. And, just as important, it raises our visibility in the community as an organization that celebrates the local food economy and the unique character of the North Fork which we all love. Plus, it is a lot of fun!!
The Foodie Tour will take place on September 7, so time is growing short to get it all together, and the Foodie Tour Committee needs your help.
- Be a Docent: Docents are the backbone of the Foodie Tour. On the day of the tour docents work at each of the 20 Foodie Tour locations setting up, giving directions, directing parking, selling tickets and raffles, and otherwise making sure things go smoothy. Training is provided on the day before the tour. We need two docents for each of two shifts at 20 locations – that’s 80, so in addition to you, we need you to recruit your friends, relatives and passing acquaintances to spend a half-day shift working at one of the locations. Docents get to visit any locations they choose during the other half of the day for FREE! Please contact our hard-working docent wrangler Sue Hearn to volunteer at 631-603-6261 or hearnsu@gmail.com.
If you have already paid for your life-long dream trip to Antarctica or can’t get out of attending your cousin’s stepdaughter’s wedding in Hackensack on September 7 and even if you can be a docent (and we hope you will), there are other ways you can help:
- Become a Foodie Tour Sponsor: Click here for details.
- Support the Foodie Tour Auction: The Foodie Tour auction accounts for about 20% of the total Foodie Tour revenue. You can help by soliciting or contributing auction items such as gift certificates, services, or experiences such as a vacation weekend, boating afternoon, lessons, or a catered meal and rallying friends, relatives, neighbors and anyone you’ve met on the Jitney to bid on the auction items and bidding on the items yourself, of course!
