Our Rabbi Jessica Kerman

Our rabbis are students in the Rabbinical Program of the Hebrew Union College – Jewish Institute of Religion. Each student is required to fulfill two years of professional experience prior to ordination. We are privileged to participate in this program. Each new student rabbi brings us a fresh point of view that enriches our experience as we pray, celebrate and study together.

Welcome Student Rabbi Jessica Kerman

jess headshotJessica Kerman is moving into her 4th year as a rabbinical student at HUC-JIR’s New York campus. She grew up in Brampton, Ontario, and graduated York University (the 3rd largest University in Canada) in 2009.   She taught at Har Tikvah Congregation’s religious school for several years before heading off to South Korea to teach English as a second language. Before beginning her rabbinical studies, Jessica interned with Beit Tefilah Israeli in Tel Aviv and Livnot U’Lehibanot in Tzfat and studied at the Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies in Jerusalem. Jessica is passionate about finding ways to infuse Judaism into all facets of life. She especially enjoys text study, and feels it connects her in conversation with other Jews throughout space and time. When not studying, Jessica likes keeping her hands busy sewing, knitting, crafting and even building furniture.

We heartily welcome Jessica and look forward to his spiritual leadership during the 2017-2018 year.
