SUMMARY:Flicks and Friends
DESCRIPTION:Guns & Moses\, available on Amazon Prime\, is a 2025 movie about a gentle Hasidic rabbi in the Mojave Desert who reluctantly becomes a detective and gunfighter. When his synagogue is violently attacked\, he takes matters into his own hands to protect his congregation. \nThe film’s core inspiration came from the 2019 shooting at the Chabad-run synagogue in Poway\, California. Director Salvador Litvak was highly moved by the resilience of the synagogue’s rabbi\, Yisroel Goldstein\, who responded to the tragedy by advocating for acts of goodness and community. \nWhile the exact characters and murder mystery in the film are fictional\, it is a direct reflection of real-world antisemitism and the proactive\, grassroots security measures the Jewish community had to adopt in response. \nWe will be hosted by a member of our synagogue.
