September 25 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm
Over the course of the next few Adult Ed sessions, Luisa will be leading a class on the Book of Proverbs. Touching on both contemporary and ancient sources, participants will have the opportunity to delve into the intersections between the Book of Proverbs, a contemporary Reform worldview, social justice work, and Jewish ethical and legal narratives. To facilitate such conversations, three major, overarching themes will be discussed:
- G-d’s Place in Tzedek (Justice)
- Our Responsibility to the “Other”
- Our Souls, Ourselves
Each theme will be addressed at length in its designated session through reading-and-discussion based learning. Participants will engage in critical dialogue about the material, asking difficult questions and pulling on current events to enrich the learning. If you would like to join the class, just click the link below this coming Saturday at 4:00 pm. For those interested, a copy of the Proverbs text might be helpful, but is not required.
